Jaguar Announces 2014 XFR-S Coming to U.S., Previews Sedan’s Front End [2012 L.A. Auto Show]
Jaguar’s hard-core R-S model line soon will double in size, following the company’s announcement that the XF sedan will gain a high-output XFR-S variant for 2014. A single photo of the new sedan’s front end was released alongside the confirmation of the new model. The XFR-S joins the XKR-S coupe and convertible, and slots into the refreshed-for-2013 XF lineup above the XFR currently on sale, and it will make its auto-show debut at the 2012 L.A. auto show.

Like the XKR-S, the XFR-S will be a rare kitty, with only 100 slated to arrive on our shores for 2014. It’s presently unknown what powertrain the XFR-S will get, but chances are it will be the same 550-hp, supercharged 5.0-liter V-8 that powers the XKR-S. The front end’s aggressive look mirrors that of the XKR-S, with black mesh grillework, carbon-fiber accents, and huge air intakes. That said, based on the preview photo above, the XFR-S’s front-end styling will be less busy and more elegant than the XKR-S’s, which depending on your point of view is either a good thing or a letdown. We think its a good thing, and more becoming of a high-performance executive sedan. One thing’s for sure, we’re digging the French Racing Blue paint color; it’s available on the XKR-S coupe and convertible, and it looks fantastic here. Now all that’s left for Jaguar to slap its R-S badge on is the hot XF Sportbrake . . . Beuller? Bueller?
