Lamborghini Reveals Updated 2013 Gallardo LP570-4 Super Trofeo Race Car
- Road Test: 2012 Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4
- First Drive: 2013 Ferrari F12berlinetta
- Comparison Test: 2011 Ferrari 458 Italia vs. 2011 McLaren MP4-12C, 2011 Porsche 911 GT2 RS
In case it isn’t clear from the photos, the Super Trofeo is the raciest baby Lambo because it is actually, uh, a race car (last year’s LP570-4 Super Trofeo Stradale is its road-going cousin). The Super Trofeo is eligible to compete in Lamborghini’s single-make, Blancpain-sponsored racing series of the same name. The race-car bits make it hard to tell, but look closely and you’ll see that like the 2013 Gallardo, the Super Trofeo gets more angular styling elements front and rear. There’s also a new adjustable rear wing that can be set to 10 different positions, and the brake ducts were re-contoured for a claimed 50-percent improvement in the front brakes’ thermal performance. Otherwise, the Super Trofeo is the same beast as before, complete with a 570-hp V-10 engine, brutish good looks, and a brutishly high price tag.
